The Scoop on Las Cruces Recycling!
If you're like me, you're pretty indifferent about the new curbside recycling. Unless you're like my neighbor, who apparently doesn't care about ANYTHING. --And we know this because of the pile of pizza boxes that SURROUND THEIR DUMPSTER. You can't even see the thing. If you are indifferent, however, it's probably because of all the confusion regarding when to put it out, and specifics of what can and can't be recycled.
Here's what CAN be recycled:
PAPER
Newspapers
Magazines
Office paper
Junk mail
Catalogs
Phone books
Paper bags
Cardboard
Paperback books
Hardback books
Paperboard (cereal boxes, etc.)
Milk & juice cartons/boxes
PLASTICS
Plastics 1 through 7
including: soda,
juice and water bottles,
milk and juice jugs,
detergent bottles,
plastic tubs and jars,
rigid laundry hampers,
and plastic baskets
METAL
Aluminum cans
Steel cans
Pots and pans
Small electronics
Here's what you DON'T want to recycle:
NO Garbage
NO Yard waste or leaves
NO Garden hoses
NO Textiles or used clothing
NO Styrofoam
NO Pizza boxes
NO Glass
NO Light bulbs
NO Hazardous waste
NO Medical waste
NO Batteries
NO Sharp metal
NO Motor Oil Bottles
