Drake Vs. Playboy

Playboy Enterprises is suing Drake for copyright infringement over allegations of his Best I Ever Had song which was sampled, without clearance, from a ’70s song owned by Playboy.

The lawsuit, filed June 24, argues Playboy “has suffered, and will continue to suffer irreparable injury” from the alleged copyright violation, and demands that “all infringing works be recalled and destroyed,” according to reports from CTV. Cash Money Records and the Universal Music Group were also named in the suit.

The song in question is Fallin’ in Love, a steamy 1975 number from Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds released on the now defunct Playboy Records. The Best I Ever Had beat was made by little known Toronto producer Boi-1da, who has also worked with Eminem and Busta Rhymes.
