The Tar Heels never took their foot off the pedal in the Motor City last night beating the Michigan St. Spartans for the 2nd time at Ford Field this season 89-72, only this time it counted. The Tar Heels have won their second National Championship this decade and set a bunch of records with it. They scored 55 points in the 1st half which was the 1st record. Then Ty Lawson had 8 steals which was the 2nd record. They had the biggest lead at halftime in a national championship game at 21 points. Also this was the biggest crowd to ever see a basketball game at 72'000. Michigan St. never had a chance against the Tar Heels. They turned the ball over 20 times, they shot poorly from the field and they just were not ready to play the Heels.
